Emergency Hair Styling Tips

Ladies, have you ever been caught in a situation where you have no products or hair styling tools, except maybe a hotel room hair dryer? Let's talk what to do when that moment strikes. We share our wisdom with our Emergency Hair Styling Tips for those moments when you are totally unequipped and need to do something about your hair.

Emergency Hair Styling Tips

Listen, we're all human and sometimes we are caught in situations where your hair becomes a complete frizz ball or greasy mess. Usually its not a big deal because it's 2018 and you can have salon quality tools stashed in your purse on a night out (Our Mini Hair Straightener for example). However if you're not prepared and don't have access to these tools or products because:

  • You landed abroad after a 15 hour flight and forgot to pack your travel adaptor
  • Power outage
  • Your house was robbed and the only thing stolen was your flat iron and anti frizz products...

...or any other reasonable explanation, then read on if this sounds like advice that you should probably listen to.

Emergency Hair Styling Tips Situation one: You landed abroad after a 15 hour flight and forgot to pack your travel adaptor

You have just checked in to your accomodation after a long haul flight only to discover that your travel adaptor is all the way back home, in another country. Don't fret. Depending on your accomodation, most hotel rooms or hostels will have hair dryers available to use either in your room or at reception. (Some swanky hotels even have straightening irons available to rent or to use in their gym)

Take it back to how our mama's use to do it and wash and blow dry your hair using the hotel hair dryer. This will smooth out your hair. Once dry, tie it in a top knot bun for a couple of hours or overnight. In the morning your hair should be smooth with a soft wave when you take your bun out.

Emergency Hair Styling Tips Situation two: Power Outage

OK so either your power cut out mid hair wash or your suburb and surrounding suburbs power is out for the next few hours what do you do?

  • If your hair is already wet, gently towel dry to prevent your hair frizzing up
  • Add smoothing products such as a mousse or serum to keep your hair smooth and maintained.
  • With a wide toothed comb, comb the product through your damp hair and leave to air dry
  • After 20 min or so, using your fingers, twist your hair into 2-3 cannons  and leave to dry completely

Alternatively, your local gym will have hair dryers and straighteners available if it is an emergency and they have power! (Or a friend who is nice enough to let you use their power)

We hope this guide helps you in the unfortunate event where it's a hair emergency! Don't get caught out in the future- our super handy, extremely portable, hair care range can be viewed here.
