DIY Hair Treatments: Natural Scalp Exfoliation

In the previous article, we talked about the many reasons why exfoliating your scalp is important if you want to have gorgeous, healthy hair. But while there are many ways to do it, natural scalp exfoliation, using natural ingredients, is still one of our favorite ways.

In today’s article, we’ll list down some of our favorite DIY hair treatments for natural scalp exfoliation!

Honey sugar scalp scrub

Sugar is a very popular ingredient for scrubs, regardless of which part of the body it’s going to be used for.

It’s a gentle exfoliant and allows you to clean your pores thoroughly without hurting them. Honey is added into the mix as a source of vitamins, nutrients, and enzymes. Plus, due to honey’s natural properties, it makes scrubbing your scalp easier too and leaves it soft and exfoliated.

In order to create this natural scalp scrub, simply mix 2 parts sugar and 1 part honey together in a bowl. Apply to your hair and leave on for a few minutes before rinsing it off. Make sure to rinse thoroughly as you wouldn’t want to leave any sugar residue behind!

Salt and coconut oil scalp scrub

Salt is another effective exfoliant for your scalp. Together with coconut oil, it can help remove your dry skin, dandruff, and other excess buildup while stimulating hair growth. Coconut oil is especially good at moisturizing your scalp and providing protection.

For this DIY scalp scrub, mix 2 tablespoons of sea solt and 2 tablespoons of coconut oil together gently massage onto your scalp. Use shampoo and water to rinse afterwards.

Brown sugar and oatmeal scrub

Again, sugar is a great exfoliant, which makes it perfect for DIY treatments for natural scalp exfoliation. Meanwhile, oatmeal is another effective physical exfoliant that surely but gently exfoliates your hair.

To make a brown sugar and oatmeal scrub, combine 2 tablespoons of brown sugar, 2 tablespoons of oatmeal, and 2 tablespoons of your favorite hair conditioner. Wet hair then massage the DIY scalp scrub into your scalp in circular motions.
