Hair Extension Rules
Congratulations! You have just bought yourself a set of gorgeous new Hair Extensions. Be sure to follow these rules to ensure the longest life possible with your new hair investment. Read on as we explore the holy grail of hair extension care tips to maximise your longer, fuller, gorgeous new hair.
Rule #1: Use Low Heat Settings on your styling tools
We all know how harsh heating tools can be on your own hair! It is important to use low temperature settings when styling your hair extensions. Be sure to also use a good heat protectant before styling your hair to ensure your hair does not burn.
Rule #2: Use sulphate free products
When washing your hair, be sure to use sulphate free shampoo and conditioners to avoid drying out your hair extensions. It may be tempting to opt for the cheaper alternative when you're in the beauty aisle, however you have been warned! Sulphates are too efficient that they clean your hair too well, causing your hair to dry out much easier.
Rule #3: Brush your extensions regularly when wearing
As the hair cuticle is not part of your natural hair, hair extensions will tangle much easier than your natural hair. Be sure to brush your hair regularly with a hair extension safe brush, such as our Tangle Tamer, which will ensure your hair stays as smooth as possible for the life of your wear. Ain't nobody got time for tangles!
Rule #4: Hydrate your extensions with natural oils
As hair extensions don't receive natural oils like your own hair, it is important to treat your extensions with hydrating oils to ensure the longest life span possible. You can read our previous blog post about The Best Natural Oils For Hair Extensions Here.
