TRAVELLING WITH HAIR EXTENSIONS
BEFORE YOU GO: HOW TO PACK YOUR EXTENSIONS
If you're planning on taking your ZALA clip in extensions to your destination of choice, always make sure you pack them right! Follow our instructions for safe packing below:
- Brush out your extensions with a travel sized brush, such as our Tangle Tamer, to remove any tangles or knots before packing them.
- Clip your extensions into their hanger and place them inside the protective bag - we would recommend our Protect Me Bag to keep your locks safe and frizz free.
- Once your suit case is about half full, lay the Protect Me Bag flat on top and pack your remaining clothes and items over the top. This will keep them kink free and avoid any tangling during transit.
GETTING THERE: IN FLIGHT HAIR CARE FOR YOUR EXTENSIONS
Planes can really dry out your skin and your hair, so it is important you treat your extensions right when travelling via plane. These are out top tips on caring for your tapes or clip ins during your flight:
- To avoid any tangling when sleeping or sitting for long periods, we would recommend braiding your hair. This will keep your extensions tangle free and in great shape once you have arrived at your destination.
- Leave in conditioning treatments are easy to use and a great way to add moisture back into your hair after a long flight! You can even do them before boarding your flight to keep your hair feeling soft and smooth all the way there.
- Silk pillow cases are the best option for any extension lover! That's why we always make sure to bring one on the plane. You can simply pop it over the pillow provided on the plane (or even your own) to keep your hair silky smooth.
YOU'VE ARRIVED: HOW TO CARE FOR YOUR EXTENSIONS ON HOLIDAYS
If you're planning on swimming on your holiday, it is important to take care of your extensions accordingly. Salt and chlorinated water can cause damage to extensions without proper use. Follow these tips to keep them soft and healthy:
- After swimming in salt or chlorinated water, always be sure to rinse your hair with fresh water to remove any residual salt/chlorine that could dry out and damage your extensions.
- Using an extension safe brush (like our Tangle Tamer) brush through your hair before it dries. This will allow your hair to dry without any knots and helps avoid snagging.
- It is super important to incorporate deep conditioning treatments when swimming regularly. As your extensions cannot generate their own oils, deep conditioners are the perfect way to add back some moisture to your hair after swimming.
