Tape-In or Weave-In Extensions for My Wedding?

Lacking the proper length and volume for your chosen style? Today, we'll answer the question: tape-in or weave-in extensions for my wedding?

Your hair is an absolutely important part of your wedding day get-up. No matter how gorgeous your makeup or how stunning your dress is, an awkward hairstyle can instantly ruin your entire look.

Whether you’re planning to wear a slightly aesthetically messy chignon for your wedding party or romantic loose braids where you can insert small flowers to blend in your garden wedding, there are a plethora of hairstyles and hair accessories you can wear to complete your bridal look.

If you're lacking the proper length and volume for your chosen style though, then don't fret! Our hair extensions at ZALA, which come in all forms and types, are here to the rescue. In fact, in today's article, we'll answer the question: tape-in or weave-in extensions for my wedding?

Using Hair Extensions For Your Wedding

You don’t have to commit to a totally different hairstyle just to pull off your dream hairdo for your wedding. Hair extensions can provide you with all the freedom you need to rock different looks on your special day.

Hair extensions come in all kinds of styles, colors, lengths, materials, and modes of application. It's important to note which ones are most compatible with your natural hair and which ones are most suitable for your chosen hairstyle.

If you’re planning on wearing hair extensions starting from your wedding until your honeymoon vacation, you might want to check out semi-permanent hair extensions. In this article, we'll discuss two types of semi-permanent solutions: tape-in hair extensions and weave-in hair extensions.

Tape-In Hair Extensions

If you’re only planning on wearing hair extensions for the duration of the ceremony and to the afterparty, you can consider tape-inhair extensions.

Tape-in hair extensions are very easy to wear and even easier to remove. They have tapes on the base of the wefts that you attach to your strands. This allows them to stay aligned with the roots of your own hair.

Also, because tape-ins use tapes, they can create a sleek and flat appearance that won't look and feel bulky in your hair. This makes them ideal to use in events that last the whole day, such as a wedding. They're also easier to conceal even for those who have a thinner or finer hair type.

You can expect around 30 minutes to 1 hour for application. Hence, you can get them applied on the same day of your wedding, ensuring that the hair extensions are in the best condition for the event. It would be best if a hairstylist could apply them for you so that you can also avoid having to remove and reinstall them again and again if you apply them incorrectly.

If you want to wear them longer than your special day, that's fine as well. Tape-ins can last from 4-8 weeks depending on how well you take care of them and how long your hair has grown. We suggest using a special shampoo and conditioner, like Zala's Froth On You Shampoo and Smooth Talker Conditioner, while you’re wearing the tape-in hair extensions to keep them in good condition. Make sure the other hair products you're using aren’t harsh so that the glue isn’t affected.

Weave-In Hair Extensions

Weave-in hair extensions are another semi-permanent type of hair extension.

The major difference between weave-in extensions and tape-ins is the method of application. While tape-in hair extensions are glued to the roots of your hair, weave-in hair extensions are sewed to your hair. Here at Zala, we use silicone backed beads in order to safely attach the wefts to your strands.

The only downside is that they can be quite bulky for people with thinner or finer hair. You need to have thick enough hair in order to completely hide the beads from being seen.

You can wear weave-ins for as long as 4 months, again, depending on how you care for them. The recommended time, however, is 6-8 weeks. That's because wearing weave-ins for too long can impact the growth of your natural hair. It may be a little difficult to DIY the application and removal, so having a professional hairstylist to apply them is the best option.
